To pursue a minimalist lifestyle, many people buy multi-purpose items, throw away their wardrobes, and clean their houses, but in reality, they only complicate their lives.

Keeping a clean house takes a lot of effort.

Here are some things that many people think are minimalist but are actually the opposite.

Clean everything up

The first image of a minimalist lifestyle is extremely neat houses with few and compact furniture.

Some people try to tidy up their house so that everything has its place. At first, the house looks neat but gradually makes it difficult for family members to breathe. "Goldfish brain" wives often forget where things are, especially other family members' things. This happens so many times that family members start to get annoyed.

To maintain a minimalist feel to your home, you will have to clean constantly. Areas like the living room, sofa, and dining table are not allowed to have anything superfluous. Not only do you force yourself, but you also require family members to follow suit, which causes a lot of conflict.

As a result, instead of making life simpler, this lifestyle brings more hassle.

Worship of multi-purpose gadgets

One principle of minimalist living is to reduce the number of items you own. So when shopping, people tend to buy one item for multiple purposes.

For example, they often buy pots with removable handles. So, after cooking, they can remove the handle to turn it into a bowl to hold food without needing an extra plate. If there is any leftover food, they can put it in the refrigerator. The pot can even be used as a grill or hot pot when needed.

It sounds convenient, but in reality it is very annoying. The handle is often removed and reattached, making it loose. If you accidentally do not attach it tightly, the pot of hot food can easily fall, causing danger to you.

Discard indiscriminately

Many people mistakenly think that minimalism is about getting rid of as much stuff as possible. However, this can cause anxiety and be counterproductive.

For example, after throwing away all your stuff, many people can't resist the urge to buy more stuff to compensate. This inadvertently costs you money to buy new things, complicating your life in the name of minimalism.

In fact, streamlining means reducing shopping, considering carefully before buying to avoid waste. For items already in the house, make the most of them instead of throwing them away.

Over-repression of personal needs

Many people become more tired when pursuing this lifestyle. They always feel suppressed inside. Because they often set themselves rules for not ordering delivery, not buying takeout, not dyeing their hair, not wearing makeup, and making the most of old items. In fact, minimalism is not really suppression, but rather the absence of internal needs.

Older people are often more likely to pursue a minimalist lifestyle, because they have gone through a period of impulsive consumption and realized that shopping does not bring real joy.

But young people are still experiencing and discovering the world. Forcing them to give up their consumer needs too early is counterproductive. Many people, after a period of repression, have exploded into shopping.
