Since the first day of Tet, many people have donated blood and platelets at the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.
Early on the first day of the Lunar New Year, Mr. Nguyen Duc Dat (in Thanh Tri, Hanoi) visited the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to donate blood.
According to Mr. Dat, this is the 19th time he has donated blood. Donating blood has become a regular job for him, regardless of the weather or holidays. He donated blood on the first day of Tet to affirm that this is a meaningful and good thing to do on the first day of the new year.
Also on the first day of Tet, the first person to donate platelets at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion was Mr. Duong Minh Quang (in Hoan Kiem, Hanoi). This was Mr. Quang's 59th platelet donation, right on the first day of the new year as a gift for patients in need of blood.
Many doctors and medical staff of the "Blood Institute" also directly participated in donating blood during and after the first shift of the new year.
Notably, right after her shift on the first day of the year, Ms. Tran Thi Huyen, a medical staff working at the Stem Cell Transplantation Department, donated blood. She was invited to donate phenotype blood to a patient in urgent need.
Ms. Huyen and many staff members of the Blood Institute actively donated blood right after their New Year's Eve shift.
According to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the demand for blood for patient treatment during and after Tet often increases. Especially the demand for blood type O is always necessary. Therefore, the Institute has called on people with adequate health conditions, especially blood donors with blood type O, to arrange time to donate blood from now until after Tet to have enough blood to serve patient treatment.
