Musician Quoc Dung passed away

Singer Bao Yen said her husband passed away at 9am on September 24 at his home in Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Kim Tuan - Bao Yen's younger brother - announced that the musician's cremation will take place on September 25. The family asks not to accept wreaths or condolences.

Musician Bao Chau - son of musician Quoc Dung - wrote a tribute to his father on his personal page: "I will do what I promised."

Singer Cam Van - Quoc Dung's close junior - received sad news from the musician's family. Cam Van said that over the past 10 days, his health has been deteriorating due to many illnesses. "In my memory, Quoc Dung is a talented, humble senior who always supports his juniors on their career path," the artist said.

10 years ago, Quoc Dung had a serious traffic accident that caused his health to gradually decline.

During his lifetime, musician Quoc Dung shared his career perspective: "When composing, the idea in each of my songs must be a plot. I cannot stand a song that is similar or similar to my old compositions. That is why I always try to make my later compositions better than the previous ones. If I feel that it is not better, then that feeling is not worthy of being recorded as a song."

The musician's full name is Nguyen Quoc Dung, born in 1951 in Thailand. In 1954, when Quoc Dung was three years old, his family returned to Vietnam. At the age of 10, Quoc Dung entered the Saigon National Conservatory of Music, and at the age of 16 he graduated as valedictorian in Western music. After passing the Baccalaureate 2, Quoc Dung entered Van Hanh University.

At the age of 15, Quoc Dung performed the mandolin on television in a grand orchestra. Quoc Dung's first piece of music was written when he was only 11 years old, an instrumental piece. With the ability to compose, perform and use mandolin, guitar, piano, drums, bass, keyboard, and organ, Quoc Dung was one of the representative faces of the music scene at that time.

After 1975, Quoc Dung married Bao Yen and had two sons, Khai Ca and Bao Chau. He also worked as an editor and arranger for Ho Chi Minh City Television. Quoc Dung is also an actor, having played the male lead in the filmMy schooldirected by Le Dan.
