Nguyen Thi Oanh and 36 SEA Games 2023 champions will receive the Labor Medal

Nguyen Thi Oanh was proposed to be awarded the Second Class Labor Medal by the State for her achievements at the 32nd SEA Games alongside many colleagues in the Vietnamese sports delegation.

Just a few days after the Vietnamese Sports Delegation returned home, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training said it would submit a report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to request the State to consider awarding the Labor Medal to 37 athletes and the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to 196 individuals and groups with outstanding achievements at the 32nd SEA Games.

Mr. Dang Ha Viet, Director General of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and Head of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation to the 32nd SEA Games, said he is preparing a proposal for the State to consider awarding the Second Class Labor Medal to athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh, the Third Class Labor Medal to 36 SEA Games champions, and Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister to 196 other individuals and groups.

At the 32nd SEA Games, athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh won 4 gold medals in athletics in the 1,500m, 3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m and 10,000m races, inspiring millions of Vietnamese and regional audiences. Many athletes with outstanding achievements at the 32nd SEA Games such as Nguyen Thi Huyen (athletics, 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal), Tran Hung Nguyen (swimming, 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal), Pham Thanh Bao (swimming, 2 gold medals, broke 2 SEA Games records), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming, 3 gold medals, 1 bronze medal) and athletes who won gold medals at 3 consecutive SEA Games such as Bui Yen Ly (Muay, Kun Khmer), Lai Gia Thanh (weightlifting), Duong Thuy Vi (wushu), Can Tat Du, Nguyen Xuan Dinh (wrestling), Nguyen Duy Tuyen (pencak silat)... were proposed to be awarded the Third Class Labor Medal.

Also with the excellent performance at SEA Games 32, 196 individuals and groups were also proposed to the Prime Minister to receive Certificates of Merit according to regulations. 310 groups and individuals were proposed to receive Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
