Nguyen Thi Oanh won another national gold medal, surpassing her achievement at SEA Games 32.

Today, October 25, the competitions at the 2023 National Athletics Championship continue to take place, held at Mieu Mon (Hanoi).

In the women's 5000m final, Nguyen Thi Oanh continued to show her superiority when she won the gold medal with a time of 16 minutes 35 seconds 89. The silver medal was won by Pham Thi Hong Le with a time of 16 minutes 39 seconds 15 and Le Thi Tuyet won the bronze medal with a time of 16 minutes 43 seconds 90.

For Nguyen Thi Oanh personally, the achievement of 16 minutes 35 seconds 89 she just achieved at the 2023 National Athletics Championship is much better than the mark of 17 minutes 0 seconds 28 that brought her the gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games. However, Nguyen Thi Oanh's achievement is still worse than the national record she set in 2021, which was 15 minutes 53 seconds 48.

Yesterday, in the women's 1500m final, Nguyen Thi Oanh also competed excellently to win the gold medal with a time of 4 minutes 21 seconds 07. The silver medal was won by Bui Thi Ngan (4 minutes 26 seconds 15) and Ngo Thi Khanh Ny (4 minutes 32 seconds 29) received the bronze medal.

In some other events of the National Athletics Championship taking place today, the People's Public Security's 4x200m relay team excellently broke the national record with a time of 1 minute 24 seconds 06. Athlete Nguyen Trung Cuong won the gold medal in the 3000m obstacle course with a time of 9 minutes 11 seconds 08.
