Former Party Central Committee Secretary and former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh passed away at 8:57 p.m. on July 19 at the 108 Central Military Hospital after a period of illness.

According to the Central Committee for the Protection and Care of Officials' Health, Mr. Nguyen Khanh, born in 1928, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Prime Minister, after a period of illness, despite the Party, State, professors and doctors' devoted treatment and the wholehearted care of his family, due to old age and poor health, he passed away at 8:57 p.m. on July 19, at the 108 Central Military Hospital.
The funeral, memorial service and burial ceremony of former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh will be announced later.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh's real name is Nguyen Ngoc Khanh, born on March 31, 1928; joined the Party on February 20, 1947 in Ha Hoi commune, Thuong Tin district, Hanoi.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh was Secretary of the Party Central Committee, term VI; Member of the Party Central Committee, term V (alternate), term VI, term VII; Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Council of Ministers (1987-1992); Deputy Prime Minister (1992-1997); National Assembly delegate, term VIII, IX, X.
In January 1980, he was Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Office.
In March 1982, at the 5th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Nguyen Khanh was elected as an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, then appointed as Chief of the Party Central Committee Office.
In December 1986, at the 6th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Nguyen Khanh was elected as an official member of the Party Central Committee and was elected by the Central Committee to the Secretariat.
In February 1987, he was Vice President and Secretary General of the Council of Ministers.
In 1991, at the 7th National Congress of the Party, he was elected a member of the Party Central Committee.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Khanh was a delegate of the 8th, 9th and 10th National Assembly.
In October 1992, at the first session of the 9th National Assembly, Mr. Nguyen Khanh was elected Deputy Prime Minister.
