As the setting for a blockbuster movie released at the end of October, the thousand-year-old village without electricity, water, or phone signal in Ha Giang quickly became a tourist attraction because of its peaceful, pristine, and somewhat magical beauty.

Located about 20km from the center of Dong Van district (Ha Giang), Sao Ha village (in Kho Cho hamlet, Van Chai commune, Dong Van district) has recently become a destination sought out and explored by many travel enthusiasts.

Previously, Sao Ha village was not known to many tourists, but when it appeared in a popular Vietnamese movie released in October, it quickly emerged as a "phenomenon" on the Ha Giang tourism map, attracting many tourists to visit.

Sao Ha village is located in the middle of Van Chai old forest, home to Mong ethnic people.

In the Mong language, Sao Ha means "high valley". This village is located at an altitude of about 1,500m above sea level. Because it is sparsely populated and surrounded by sacred forests, this place still retains its wild beauty, with a hint of mystery.

Many tourists who have been to Sao Ha commented that this village has a strange and quiet beauty. The mountains are wide, the village is narrow, and there is no electricity, running water or phone signal, so tourists only visit during the day.

Sao Ha village is located high up, isolated from the bustling life outside, giving visitors a fresh, relaxing and pleasant feeling.

Coming here, visitors cannot help but be impressed by the architecture of the Mong ethnic people's rammed earth houses (using earth to build walls to withstand the harsh weather on the rocky plateau), yin-yang tiled roofs, and sturdy stone fences.

These houses are located in clusters, surrounded by a primeval forest of about 500 hectares.

Due to the rugged terrain, the villagers' lives are quite simple, mainly living on self-sufficiency. They often grow flax, corn, and mustard greens, raise goats, and weave by hand.

From the center of Ha Giang city, visitors follow National Highway 4C to Tham Ma slope and then turn into Van Chai commune. Next, visitors move to Kho Cho area and ask for directions to Sao Ha village.

From Yen Minh district, visitors go through a pass about 17km long with hairpin bends and long slopes, reaching the foot of Tham Ma slope and then travel about 4km more to reach Van Chai commune.

To reach Sao Ha village, visitors can only travel in two ways, on foot or by motorbike, not by car.

Because the village is located deep in the forest, to get here, visitors must travel by motorbike, crossing a trail about 2km long. The road from the outside to the village is concrete but very small, full of rocks and steep slopes, with quite dangerous curves.

The ideal time to visit Sao Ha is in spring. At that time, peach blossoms bloom, spreading their bright pink color, dispelling the cold, quiet atmosphere of the village.

Coming to Sao Ha, visitors have the opportunity to admire the primeval forest, explore the life of the Mong people or combine visiting the bamboo forest, ancient houses, Sao Ha temple, etc. This village has not yet exploited tourism services, travel enthusiasts can choose to camp in the bamboo forest, immersing themselves in nature.

However, when coming here, visitors should be careful not to litter or talk too loudly, as this will affect the landscape and the lives of local people.
