Multi-talented artist Barbra Streisand wins SAG lifetime achievement award

On February 24, actress, singer, director and producer Barbra Streisand was awarded the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Lifetime Achievement Award for her vibrant career and meaningful humanitarian activities.

Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston and actor Bradley Cooper were honored to be chosen to present SAG's most prestigious award to 81-year-old director Streisand.

Streisand is the 59th person to receive the prestigious award given to actors who have shaped the best ideas in the acting profession.

Sharing her thoughts at the ceremony in Los Angeles, Ms. Streisand recalled her dream of becoming an actress when she was a teenager and in the borough of Brooklyn, New York.

She said she admired the actor Marlon Brando in the play."Guys and Dolls"1955.

That imaginary world was much more interesting than anything she had ever experienced, and it was that world that helped nurture and cultivate her passion for cinema.

This latest award adds to the huge collection of prestigious awards that the great female artist of the century currently holds, including 2 Oscars, 10 Grammys, 5 Emmys and a "Star of the Decade" title.

Not only is she a famous artist, she is also a philanthropist who does charity work through the Streisand Foundation to protect the environment, support women's rights and nuclear disarmament.

She also founded the Women's Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and raised funds for medical care in Ukraine.

On the same day, also at the award ceremony, the film"Oppenheimer"directed by Christopher Nolan, was honored to "take home" 2 top awards.

Cillian Murphy, who plays scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer, was named best actor in a motion picture while co-star Robert Downey Jr. won best supporting actor.

This further strengthens the opportunity for"Oppenheimer"won prestigious awards at the Academy Awards ceremony of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences next March.

Previously, this film had won 5 awards at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards ceremony in early January.

On February 24, SAG awarded the Best Actress award to Lily Gladstone, star of the historical drama "Killers of the Flower Moon."

Meanwhile, Da'Vine Joy Randolph won the supporting actress award for her role as a grieving mother in the film"The Holdovers."

The above awards go through a rigorous selection process by SAG-AFTRA members because the films and actors who win these awards will become top candidates for the upcoming Oscars.
