In the year of At Ty 2025, the God of Wealth's day falls on Friday, February 7th of the solar calendar.
According to a folk tale, the God of Wealth was originally the god responsible for managing money and wealth in heaven. Due to an accident, he wandered down to earth for a number of years, and on the 10th of January, he returned to heaven. On this day, people perform worship rituals to pray for help, to become rich, and to have good business.
Offerings to the God of Wealth include:
- Set of 3 dishes: 300gr pork (can be boiled or roasted), 3 boiled eggs (chicken or duck eggs) and 3 boiled shrimp or crabs.
- Grilled snakehead fish: This is a typical offering to the God of Wealth in the South. The snakehead fish must be left whole and grilled. Leaving it whole is to commemorate the ancestors in the early days of land reclamation when there was a lot of poverty, so they did not mind leaving the fish with its scales and whole.
- Fruit tray: You can choose fruits such as oranges, mangoes, dragon fruit, apples, watermelons...
- Fresh flowers with bright colors (chrysanthemums, lilies...)
- Joss paper, rice, salt.
A special thing in worshiping the God of Wealth is that the altar is often placed low, close to the ground, instead of being placed high up, in a sacred place like the altar of ancestors and other gods.
According to folk beliefs, the God of Wealth brings good luck in money and helps businesses prosper. Many people believe that worshiping the God of Wealth can help improve luck and increase wealth.
