Livestream is a live streaming feature on typical social networking sites such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, helping users stream videos online for everyone to watch and share anytime, anywhere.
The livestream feature is prioritized by social networks, each organization and individual can be the owner of a self-created channel, plus hot live streaming content, direct interaction, attracting viewers. Many fanpages of press agencies, organizations and individuals in Hai Duong have made good use of this feature to livestream events with the aim of spreading the good values of life to viewers as quickly as possible. Typically, the Hai Duong Newspaper Fanpage has a blue tick, Tuoi Tre Hai Duong, PAM Media... regularly livestream attractive current events, culture, sports, and entertainment, attracting thousands of viewers, likes, comments, and shares. Many people use livestream to sell products online effectively, gradually replacing traditional sales methods.
However, the timeliness of livestream technology has created a content creation race. When everyone livestreams, anything can be livestreamed, creating a lot of nonsense and "dirty" content on social networks. A group of users, for the purpose of attracting likes, views, and making money, do not hesitate to livestream offensive, uncultured content, violating public morality such as showing off their bodies, vulgar advertising, or slandering, swearing, and even insulting the dignity of others... In particular, there are pornographic livestreams, showing off their bodies for the purpose of advertising, enticing viewers to use 18+ applications, broadcast in the evening, attracting tens of thousands of viewers at the same time, liking, commenting, and sharing. The girls participating in these livestreams are willing to take off their clothes, film nude scenes... From there, the subjects will invite users to download the application to watch "dirty" clips. They also often use small fanpages to avoid being noticed by Facebook. If blocked, they use another fanpage to livestream.
These livestreams seem to be somewhere far away, not in Hai Duong, but they appear right before the eyes of viewers. What is more dangerous is that many children and students whose parents let them use their phones for studying and entertainment have accidentally surfed the internet and come across "hot" images on these livestreams. Just by being curious and stopping to watch that livestream for a few seconds, viewers will continue to be suggested by Facebook, introducing other livestreams with similar content on their personal wall thanks to artificial intelligence technology.
The reason for the proliferation of toxic livestreams is due to the lax management of social media platforms when censoring content. The network security force is weak, unable to promptly detect livestreams with toxic, offensive content. By the time they are detected, the online broadcast has ended or there are too many livestreams at the same time, making it difficult to control. Many viewers are careless and indifferent, clicking the like and share buttons, causing these livestreams to spread at a dizzying speed.
Livestreaming is freedom but it does not mean arbitrarily, livestreaming anything is allowed. In 2021, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued a Code of Conduct on social networks, which clearly stipulates administrative fines of 10-20 million VND for acts of providing and sharing information that promotes bad customs, superstitions, obscenity, depravity, and is not in accordance with national traditions and customs... However, this sanction is not strong enough. To prevent this, there needs to be a force to enforce the blocking and permanently blocking of offensive livestream social media channels. If organizations or individuals re-offend, they can be criminally prosecuted. Authorities need to use tools to scan, detect, and promptly prevent livestreams with bad, toxic, and offensive content.
Organizations and individuals who do livestreams must be responsible for spreading good values; the more good things increase, the more bad things will be replaced and pushed back. Viewers need to be alert in choosing livestream events that suit their interests and tastes, and avoid interacting with livestreams that contain bad, toxic, offensive or fake content. Parents need to pay attention and remind their children to stay away from dangerous livestreams in a timely manner...
