On the afternoon of August 5, at the Fine Arts Exhibition House at 16 Ngo Quyen, Hanoi, the exhibition "August Silk Fragrance" opened.

The exhibition displays silk paintings by four artists from the “Vietnamese Silk Color” group: Nguyen Thi Thien (Quang Ninh), Do Thu Huong (Hung Yen), Ta Hung Viet and Hoang Quoc Tuan (Hanoi).

40 silk paintings with 4 separate themes, different writing styles, but all carrying pure, romantic emotions and together creating uniqueness and value of artists specializing in creating silk paintings.

For artist Nguyen Thi Thien, her paintings focus on the themes of landscapes and ethnic culture. Artist Nguyen Thi Thien shared that she paints all the life around her with her own emotions, especially her hometown Quang Ninh where she lives and works. Besides landscape paintings, artist Nguyen Thi Thien also creates works about the cultural festivals of ethnic groups in the northern mountainous region of Quang Ninh, about loved ones in the family, etc.

“I love the simple, profound, and graceful beauty of silk and I have chosen silk as my main creative material. I want to contribute my small part to promoting and preserving the traditional silk material of Vietnam,” artist Nguyen Thi Thien shared.

Artist Ta Hung Viet introduces a series of silk paintings with a new theme of family affection. His works focus on exploring the beauty of care and affection between family members, such as the affection between grandfather and grandchild, grandmother and grandchild, mother and child, husband and wife...

These are silk paintings depicting the image of a grandfather combing his hair and wrapping a scarf around his grandson to prepare him to go to the village; an officer father combing his daughter's hair to take her to the unit to receive gifts for excellent students; a mother preparing her daughter for the engagement day; or images of soldiers on leave visiting their mothers and lovers...

Artist Do Thu Huong is inspired by real-life trips, the breath of life, and is impressed by the beauty of nature and people. From there, she tells the stories of characters through each work - which is also her own inner world.

Artist Do Thu Huong shared that she chose women as her main subject because the image of female nature is just a general image but it is consistent with all ages that she has contemplated in life. Besides, artist Do Thu Huong especially likes to paint ethnic costumes because they are typical of ethnic identity and she loves the rustic, simple lifestyle of ethnic people, with their simple life...

Artist Hoang Quoc Tuan seeks pure, innocent beauty through his drawings of children or women. Sometimes he puts his heart into the thoughts of a girl in her prime... “I want people to find something of themselves in these works. Maybe a little bit of innocence and naivety of a 5 or 7 year old, or to calm down with the thoughts of a real age...,” artist Hoang Quoc Tuan shared.

The exhibition “August Silk Fragrance” is organized with the desire to spread to collectors and the public who love silk paintings, contributing to the continuation and development of silk paintings, considered a valuable asset of Vietnamese painting.

The exhibition lasts until August 14.
