Recently, Russia continues to develop a new type of drone called Strekoza (meaning Dragonfly).

Spokesperson of the UTTA defense corporation, Mr. Igor Stukalo, said on October 17 that thanks to Strekoza, the Russian army has the ability to remotely neutralize mines and bombs when fighting on the Ukrainian fronts.

Mr. Stukalo, who serves as UTTA’s technical director, said that the Russian Defense Ministry and the Russian National Guard have conducted tests of the Strekoza drone and achieved positive results. According to him, this flying device can be used in areas up to 20 kilometers from the front line.

During remote control, if Strekoza detects a mine with a radio-electronic detonator, the drone will drop a block of TNT on the target to neutralize it.

The spokesperson said the flight time of the 12kg device is 50 minutes. The Strekoza kit includes four rechargeable batteries and a charger.

The Russian military has successfully used various types of drones in the special operations area.

Drones are precise, small in size, can attack targets in relatively large numbers, and most importantly, have low production costs.

According to the AP news agency, in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, drones have proven to be a powerful, difficult to stop and cost-effective weapon in carrying out search and destroy missions, while also being able to shake the resolve of soldiers.

Drones are also rapidly surpassing missiles as the remote weapon of choice because they can be delivered to any combat zone, in larger numbers, and much cheaper.
