Moscow will respond with economic and political measures if Russian assets are confiscated.
On April 25, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia is leaving open the possibility of downgrading diplomatic relations with the United States if Washington and other Western countries take practical actions to seize frozen Russian assets.
On April 20, the US House of Representatives passed a package of bills, including a bill related to the seizure of Russian assets frozen in US banks.
Following this information, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia would verify the details of the bill, and warned that it would act in a way that would ensure Russia's interests.
According to statistics, more than 6 billion USD of the 300 billion USD of frozen Russian assets are in US banks. The rest are frozen in Germany, France and Belgium.
