Due to the hot weather, the national electricity consumption reached 1.025 billion kWh on June 14.
According to information from Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), in the middle of June, widespread hot weather caused electricity consumption nationwide to set a new record.
According to data from the National Power System Control Center, on June 14, the national electricity consumption reached 1.025 billion kWh.
In June 2024, both the maximum capacity (Pmax) and daily electricity consumption (A day) nationwide increased sharply with new record numbers for the national power system. Recorded at 1:30 p.m. on June 19, the peak capacity of the national power system reached 49,533 MW.
According to EVN, although national electricity consumption has set new records as above, if there is no rain in the evenings in recent days, the record electricity consumption could be even higher in both capacity and output.
The increase in electricity consumption also puts significant pressure on electricity supply.
In order to ensure electricity supply in all situations in 2024, EVN and its units have been proactively implementing synchronous solutions on optimal operation of the power system and electricity market, increasing electricity import, accelerating construction investment progress, and encouraging customers to use electricity economically and efficiently.
Up to now, these solutions have all been highly effective, the electricity supply for the country's socio-economic development and people's lives has been well ensured while the actual electricity consumption growth rate is much higher than the expected plan.
In the first 5 months of 2024, the total electricity output of the entire system reached 124.25 billion kWh, an increase of 12.2% over the same period in 2023. Of which, the growth rate of electricity consumption of some typical components such as: electricity for daily life increased by 18.08%, electricity for trade - services increased by 18%, electricity for industry - production increased by 12.15%...
To ensure electricity supply in all situations in 2024 and the following years as directed by the Prime Minister, EVN and its units have been implementing solutions to optimally operate the power system and electricity market, increase electricity imports, accelerate investment and construction progress, and encourage customers to use electricity economically and efficiently.
The National Power System Control Center establishes methods and optimally operates the power system and electricity market; develops power supply scenarios, weekly updates factors on power production, load demand, and hydrological developments to proactively establish and adjust power system operation plans with the goal of ensuring adequate power supply in all situations.
In the coming time, when the flood season begins and hydrological conditions are favorable, hydropower plants will be exploited and generate electricity optimally with the goal of operating the system most economically.
EVN resolutely implements tasks and solutions to invest in and build projects in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction to ensure the progress of key power source and grid projects.
Especially in the current period, EVN and its units are implementing solutions to strive to complete the construction of the 500 kV line 3, Quang Trach - Pho Noi, according to the schedule required by the Prime Minister.
To join hands to contribute to ensuring electricity supply during the hot summer of 2024, EVN hopes that people, customers, and units will use electricity economically, especially during peak hours at noon (from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) and in the evening (from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.).
In particular, pay special attention to the reasonable use of air conditioning, only turn on the air conditioning when really necessary, set the temperature at 26-27 degrees or higher; at the same time, do not use many high-capacity electrical devices at the same time during peak hours. Using electricity economically also reduces the risk of electrical incidents and limits the situation of high electricity bills.
VN (according to VTC News)Previously, according to data from the National Power System Control Center, the national electricity consumption on May 28, 2024 reached a new record peak of 1.0019 billion hWh. This is the first time in history that the national electricity consumption in a day has exceeded 1 billion kWh.
According to Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), in the last days of May 2024, the intense hot and humid weather that recurred in many areas of all three regions caused the national electricity consumption to increase to a record high.
