Heavy rain across Central Vietnam, some places reaching record levels

From last night to this morning, October 2, the Central region has suffered heavy rains, with some places recording record rainfall.

Weather radar image taken at 6:30 a.m. on October 2 shows large clouds moving down to the Central region.

In particular, in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces, rainfall reached record levels, causing concerns about flooding, flash floods and landslides.

Ha Tinh had the highest rainfall with 263.8mm at Mac Khe Lake gauging station. Quang Binh recorded 213.2mm of rain at Vuc Tron Lake, while Quang Tri had up to 194.6mm of rain at Cua Tung gauging station. Other localities such as Nghe An and Dak Nong were also significantly affected with 56mm and 55mm of rain, respectively.

Experts warn that large clouds caused by cold air combined with convective clouds will continue to cause heavy rains from Nghe An to Quang Tri in the coming days.

From last night to this morning, October 2, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting continuously issued emergency warnings, emphasizing the situation of flash floods and landslides in the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and the Northern region, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An.

Provinces from Hue to Da Nang will also experience heavy rain tonight, posing many potential risks of natural disasters. The center recommends that people closely monitor the weather and take timely preventive measures.
