A missing worker is suspected of falling into a 10m deep sinkhole in Quang Ninh.

On June 7, the leader of Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province said that authorities are still trying to find the missing workers.

Fire and Rescue Police have approached and searched suspicious areas but have not yet found any trace of the victim.

According to information from Vietnam Mechanical and Installation Joint Stock Company (located in Hoang Que ward, Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province), at 7:20 a.m. on June 3, a group of workers from the company working during office hours came to perform the task of repairing and reinforcing the B23 conveyor belt of the enterprise in Doan Ket area, Mao Khe ward, Dong Trieu town, belonging to the coal conveyor system for Mao Khe Thermal Power Plant.

After completing the procedures for handing over and receiving work at the beginning of the hour as prescribed, the group of workers from Vietnam Mechanical and Installation Joint Stock Company dispersed to carry out the preparation work for the construction. A sinkhole suddenly formed with a width of about 4m and a depth of about 10m.

After the sinkhole appeared, the group of workers re-checked the number of workers and discovered that a worker named NVQ (born in 1991, residing in Co Le area, Hoang Que ward, Dong Trieu town) was missing.

Immediately, the group of workers searched the pit but did not find worker Q. Suspecting that worker Q might be buried in the sinkhole, the group of workers reported to the leaders of Vietnam Mechanical and Installation Joint Stock Company.

Immediately after receiving the news, the company's leaders quickly arrived at the scene, temporarily cordoned off the dangerous area, mobilized search forces, and requested Mao Khe Coal Company to mobilize vehicles and human resources to support the search.

As of noon on June 7, no clues or information about the NVQ worker has been found. The search and investigation is still ongoing by the authorities.
