Early this morning, October 20, Real Madrid visited Celta Vigo in round 10 of La Liga 2024/2025. Despite many difficulties, coach Ancelotti's team still won 2-1 thanks to the brilliance of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius.

In the 20th minute, after losing the ball to a Celta Vigo defender, Mbappe shot from 25 meters into the top corner to open the score at Balaídos Stadium.

Goalkeeper Vicente Guaita had almost no chance to save, and the French striker scored what was considered the best goal of his eight goals since joining Real.

This was Real's first game since the injury that ruled right-back Dani Carvajal out for the rest of the season. Coach Carlo Ancelotti used a three-man defence, but it did not solve the problem.

The defending champions were left wide open by a gaping hole in defence that nearly cost them. Had Williot Swedberg not shot wide of the target in a one-on-one with Thibaut Courtois in the eighth minute, Celta Vigo could have scored first.

Real did not improve much after the opening goal. They had just 53% possession and 10 shots, three of which were on target. Celta Vigo had less possession but had 13 shots, five of which were on target.

In the center forward position, Mbappe did not leave any impression except for a long-range shot that scored. In front of the center back pair Javier Manquillo - Carl Starfelt, the French striker lacked space to maneuver.

In the back line, the two wingers Fran Garcia and Lucas Vazquez also had problems with the 3-4-2-1 formation, falling back to support the defense ineffectively and not creating pressure when joining the attack.

In the 51st minute, Real paid the price for a careless marking. After a one-two on the right wing, Oscar Mingueza crossed the ball inside for Swedberg to comfortably tap the ball into Courtois' net. The three central defenders Eder Militao, Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger all forgot to follow the home team's striker.

Coach Ancelotti had to bring on Luka Modric and Rodrygo after Celta Vigo's equalizer. His decision proved to be correct as Real played more creatively and offensively.

In the 66th minute, Modric passed the ball to Vinicius to seal the 2-1 victory. After breaking free, the Brazilian striker shot the ball, hitting goalkeeper Guaita's hand and going into the goal.

However, Real still needed luck to secure the three points. In the 69th minute, if goalkeeper Courtois had not used his foot to clear the ball, Jonathan Bamba could have equalized.

Real's left wing was also a weak point for the home team to exploit. In the 70th minute, Mingueza comfortably dribbled into the middle and shot just over the bar.

Celta Vigo continued to dominate in stoppage time. Vinicius and Bellingham played the whole match, but could not relieve the pressure on Real's defense.

In the 90+2 minute, goalkeeper Courtois became a hero again when he blocked a low shot in a one-on-one situation with Swedberg, saving the away team from a second obvious goal.

The narrow win at Balaidos Stadium helped Real have 24 points after 10 rounds, and level the points gap with Barca.
