Man City skyrockets Haaland's salary, tells Real Madrid to stay away

Daily Mail reports that Pep Guardiola's Manchester City are planning to open contract talks with Haaland in the coming months in an effort to keep the Norwegian at the Etihad for as long as possible.

Haaland only joined the Blues last summer and still has four years left on his deal. However, Pep Guardiola wants City to keep the striker with a new deal between the two parties, extending the period by at least one more year, until 2028.

To convince Haaland, Man City is willing to increase his salary to 400,000 pounds/week plus bonuses. With this figure, Real Madrid's "plot" to lure him will be difficult to carry out.

The 23-year-old Man City star is said to be Real Madrid's main target, once plans with Kylian Mbappe fail again.

Last season, Haaland scored 52 goals in 53 matches for Man City in all competitions, won the treble with the team as well as won many individual titles, and is Messi's main rival in the 2023 Ballon d'Or race.

In the current campaign, Haaland has also scored 8 goals, but has not scored in the Champions League after 2 consecutive wins for Man City.
