Floods on many rivers are receding and are forecast to continue to recede or change slowly over the next 12-24 hours.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the flood on Cau River (Bac Ninh province) is fluctuating at a peak flood level of 7.73m, 1.43m above alert level III, and 0.11m below the historical flood level in 1971 (7.84m).
Floods on the Thuong River (Bac Giang) are fluctuating at a peak of 7.21m, 0.91m above alert level III, and 0.32m below the historical flood level of 1986 (7.53m). Floods on the Thai Binh River (Hai Duong City) and Hoang Long River (Ninh Binh) are rising slowly.
Floods on the Red River (Hanoi) peaked at 11.3m at 2am on September 12, 0.2m below alert level III and are receding. Floods on the Thao River in Yen Bai and the Lo River in Tuyen Quang and Vu Quang are receding. Floods on the Luc Nam River (Bac Giang) are changing slowly.
It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours, the flood on Thao River in Yen Bai will continue to fall below alert level II, on Lo River in Tuyen Quang will fall to alert level I and Vu Quang will fall above alert level I, on Cau River will continue to fluctuate at its peak above alert level III, on Thuong River will continue to fluctuate at its peak above alert level III, on Luc Nam River will slowly change to alert level III, on Thai Binh River will slowly change to alert level III, on Hoang Long River is slowly rising above alert level III, on Red River in Hanoi will continue to fall to alert level II.
It is forecasted that in the next 12 - 24 hours, floods on rivers will continue to decrease or change slowly.
Warning, in the next 24 hours, water levels at downstream stations of the Red River-Thai Binh River system will rise to or above alert level III. Rising flood levels can cause flooding in low-lying areas along the river, alluvial areas outside the main dike, causing the riverbank dykes to overflow, landslides on dykes and embankments, which can seriously affect vulnerable locations along the river in the provinces and cities of Hanoi, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh.
Flooding may occur in low-lying areas and riverside areas in the provinces of Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Hai Duong; flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in the mountainous areas of the North.
