The Russian Federation held a solemn parade to celebrate the 78th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

According to a correspondent in Moscow, the parade on Red Square traditionally began with the raising of the flag of the Russian Federation and the Victory Banner of the 150th Idritskaya Rifle Division of the 3rd Shock Army of the 1st Belorussian Front to the tune of the song "Sacred War". The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, veterans and heads of state and government of the Commonwealth of Independent States member states of Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Armenia and Kazakhstan were present on the stands.

Speaking at the parade, President Putin affirmed that he would ensure the country's security and wished to see a peaceful and stable future.

This year's parade involved about 10,000 officers and soldiers along with 125 pieces of equipment. However, compared to last year, the number of military equipment participating in the parade has decreased significantly, and there was no aerial parade. The parade groups included the branches of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, military schools of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and units of the National Guard, the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB), etc.

Following the mass of ground vehicles is the mass of wheeled military equipment. Leading the mechanized mass is the legendary T-34 tank. This year's military-technical mass includes Tigr and Typhoon-U armored vehicles, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, S-400 air defense missile systems, Iskander-M tactical missile systems, Yars mobile intercontinental missile systems, and Boomerang wheeled armored vehicles.

On May 9, the whole Russian Federation celebrates the most important holiday - Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. This is the day of the legendary victory of the Soviet Red Army over fascism and the day of remembrance of the soldiers who died in this bloody war.
