According to the Department of Labor Safety (Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs - LĐTB&XH), on the occasion of National Day September 2 this year, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 4 consecutive days off from Saturday (August 31) to Tuesday (September 3).
Thus, the 2024 National Day holiday lasts 4 days, including 2 National Day holidays and 2 weekly days off.
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs requests that agencies and units implementing the 2024 National Day holiday schedule pay attention to arranging and organizing working departments reasonably to handle work continuously, ensuring good service to organizations and people.
Agencies and units that do not have a fixed Saturday and Sunday holiday schedule every week will base on the specific program and plan of the unit to arrange a suitable National Day holiday schedule in 2024.
For employees not belonging to administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, or socio-political organizations, the employer decides to choose the option for the 2024 National Day holiday.
Accordingly, during the National Day holiday, employers choose 1 of 2 days: Sunday (September 1) or Tuesday (September 3).
Employers must notify employees of the 2024 National Day holiday plan at least 30 days before implementation.
If the weekly day off coincides with a public holiday or Tet holiday, the employee will be given a compensatory day off on the next working day.
Announcing the September 2nd holiday schedule in advance this year allows families to proactively plan their travel or vacation. Travel companies are planning to sell travel programs for the September 2nd holiday, especially tours to foreign countries.
Previously, at the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in December 2023, the General Confederation of Labor proposed that the Party and State add 2 more days off for National Day (from 2 days to 4 days off) so that workers and laborers can take time off from work and take their children to school on the opening day of the new school year on September 5 every year.
