Online Buckwheat Flower Festival attracts tourists to Ha Giang

The Buckwheat Flower Festival in Ha Giang province has become one of the tourist events attracting a large number of visitors from all over the world.

In the context of the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the 2021 Buckwheat Flower Festival was organized online by Ha Giang province on the evening of November 27 via digital technology applications.

This is the first time Ha Giang has organized an online tourism experience program to promote the Buckwheat Flower Festival and the image of Ha Giang tourism.

With the theme “Flowers of Stone” broadcast for 45 minutes, audiences and visitors can enjoy many special programs such as a panoramic picture of Ha Giang, introducing the beauty of nature and people on Dong Van Stone Plateau; images of famous landscapes and relics of Dong Van Stone Plateau Global Geopark.

In particular, visitors can also enjoy an art program introducing the unique culture of the Stone Plateau region associated with the image of buckwheat flowers.

As one of the last localities in the country to have cases and be affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, with the drastic participation of the entire political system from the province to the grassroots level, the epidemic situation has been well controlled.

Currently, Ha Giang is ready to welcome tourists back and is actively preparing for a series of important events to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the province's founding (August 20, 1891 - August 20, 2021), the 30th anniversary of the province's re-establishment (October 1, 1991 - October 1, 2021) and the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Ha Giang, scheduled to take place in early December.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Giang province, in 2021 and the following years, Ha Giang province identifies tourism development as a key and breakthrough task of the entire political system from the province to the grassroots level. The province promotes attracting investment from businesses, promoting the role and consensus of the people.

Ha Giang develops tourism in a sustainable direction, preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities, preserving natural landscapes, protecting the environment, especially well managing the planning of Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark approved by the Prime Minister.

The province also focuses on mobilizing resources for tourism development; diversifying tourism products in a professional, quality and effective direction; at the same time strengthening links, cooperation, expanding markets and improving the competitiveness of Ha Giang tourism.

Ha Giang maximizes its potential and advantages, associated with raising awareness and improving people's lives, sustainably reducing poverty, promoting traditional culture, natural landscapes and indigenous architecture.

Building Ha Giang tourism in a professional and highly competitive direction, associated with local agricultural products, ensuring sustainable development, the province focuses on developing domestic tourism, combining economic and social recovery and development with COVID-19 control, attracting domestic and foreign tourists. The province focuses on investing in synchronous and modern tourism infrastructure; forming a number of large-scale tourist areas, destinations, and comprehensive services; developing diverse and rich tourism products, especially community tourism.

Along with that, building the Ha Giang tourism brand as a safe, attractive and unique destination in the northern mountainous provinces.

In 2020, despite many difficulties, after the epidemic was controlled, Ha Giang tourism quickly recovered, welcoming 1.5 million visitors.

Ha Giang is one of the few localities that welcomed an increase in the number of tourists compared to the same period last year.

By the end of November 2021, the total number of tourists to Ha Giang is estimated at over 1.2 million, total revenue from tourists reached nearly 1,300 billion VND, creating jobs for thousands of ethnic minorities, contributing significantly to socio-economic development.

The results achieved show that the attractiveness of Ha Giang tourism lies in indigenous cultural values ​​and community tourism.

The cultural diversity of indigenous peoples has helped community tourism models succeed and "survive" even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
