The voluntary blood donation movement at many enterprises in Hai Duong is increasingly spreading widely, attracting a large number of workers to participate.
Active leader
In the past 2 years, Mr. Manu Bhardwaj, Director of Laurelton Diamonds Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dai An Industrial Park, Hai Duong City) and his staff and employees have participated in the "Donate Blood - Give Life" Festival organized by the Company's Trade Union in coordination with the Hai Duong Red Cross Society. "Through the press, I learned that in Vietnam in general and Hai Duong in particular, many people need blood for emergency care and to sustain their lives, including unfortunate people. The Blood Donation Festival is a very meaningful activity of the company and I think I myself need to contribute my responsibility in this matter," Mr. Manu Bhardwaj shared.
Up to now, Laurelton Diamonds Vietnam Co., Ltd. has organized voluntary blood donation 7 times. The leader is active, so many officers and employees in the company responded. Many employees, although only weighing more than 40 kg and old, still do not hesitate to donate blood. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (50 years old), assistant director of the company, has donated 250-350 ml of blood 6 times and said: "My mother once relied on blood donated by others to maintain her life. So I understand the meaning of blood donation. I also encourage some friends to donate blood. Before, they were afraid, but now they actively participate every year."
Since 2006, except for the years of social distancing due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Tinh Loi Garment Company Limited has organized voluntary blood donations every year. In the most recent year, the company mobilized more than 1,000 staff and workers to participate, collecting nearly 900 units of blood. “Almost all leaders in the unit, down to the heads of production teams, enthusiastically participated. This has created a very positive effect for employees in the company. Many workers have donated blood dozens of times,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, secretary of the company's Board of Directors.
The most typical is Mr. Tang Xuan Tien (a worker in the cutting department) who has donated blood 12 times. In recent years, he has also encouraged his mother and brother to participate. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuyen (a worker in the sewing department) has also donated blood 7 times. “I feel completely healthy after many times of donating blood, completely contrary to the information that blood donation is harmful. I do not care about what I will receive after donating blood, I only hope that those who are unfortunate and in trouble will be rescued in time. For me, that is enough joy and happiness.”
Employees working in enterprises have to face hard work, lots of pressure and stress. However, every year, thousands of people still enthusiastically donate blood to save lives. Their actions are deeply humane, demonstrating the responsibility of citizens to the community and contributing to promoting the tradition of solidarity, “love others as you love yourself”, “the whole leaves cover the torn leaves”… of the Vietnamese people.
Replication
The voluntary blood donation movement among enterprises in Hai Duong is increasingly spreading. Since the beginning of the year, Hai Duong Red Cross Society has mobilized nearly 10 enterprises to organize voluntary blood donation, collecting thousands of blood units, actively contributing to the cause of caring for and protecting people's health.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Mung, Chief of Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, Head of the Health Care - Communication Department of the Hai Duong Red Cross Society, said that in recent years, the voluntary blood donation movement has been mainly implemented in the education and youth sectors. In recent years, the association has focused on expanding propaganda and launching this movement in the business sector. In addition to coordinating propaganda on mass media and social networks, the Provincial Red Cross Society has also established delegations to directly go to businesses to mobilize. Almost all businesses clearly understand the meaning of this activity and actively respond. Hai Duong has tens of thousands of workers working in industrial parks and clusters. Expanding this movement will certainly collect a significant amount of blood, helping medical facilities minimize the shortage of blood for emergency care. “This November, the association will launch a campaign to promote blood donation to large enterprises in the province so that from next year, more units and employees will participate in blood donation. We will also coordinate more closely with relevant agencies and units to implement this movement more effectively,” Ms. Mung informed.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong said that she will actively advise the Board of Directors of Tinh Loi Garment Company Limited to organize more propaganda activities, mobilizing employees to participate in voluntary blood donation through the internal loudspeaker system, social networks, distributing leaflets... With about 15,000 current employees, the company strives to expand the rate of voluntary blood donation participation higher and higher. Based on the workload, the company will arrange time to organize at least 1-2 blood donations each year. Participating employees will be given priority, creating the most favorable conditions for work.
