First time organizing Hai Duong City Open Karate Championship

Hai Duong City Center for Culture, Information and Sports opened the Hai Duong City Open Karate Championship, competing for the Hai Long Sport Cup in 2024.

On the morning of October 20, the Hai Duong City Center for Culture, Information and Sports held the opening ceremony of the Hai Duong City Open Karate Championship, competing for the Hai Long Sport Cup in 2024.

This is the first time the Hai Duong City Open Karate Championship has been held. The tournament is part of a series of cultural and sports activities to celebrate the 220th anniversary of the founding of Thanh Dong (1804-2024), the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hai Duong City (October 30, 1954 - October 30, 2024).

The tournament was attended by 17 delegations with more than 200 athletes from many provinces and cities in the northern region.

The Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to the participating team.

In the evening of the same day, the closing ceremony took place. The Organizing Committee awarded 73 individual gold medals, 6 sets of team gold medals; 73 individual silver medals, 6 team silver medals; 73 individual bronze medals and 12 team bronze medals.

Minh Tu martial arts school in Son Tay (Hanoi) ranked first overall; Duong Sang martial arts school in Phu Tho ranked second overall and Tu Ky district Karate club (Hai Duong) ranked third overall.

Karate is a peaceful, non-violent martial art originating from Japan. Karate techniques focus on strength but are mainly for self-defense and health improvement.
