Although the tricks are not new such as giving gifts, drawing lucky draws and selling goods at high prices, some people in Cam Giang still fell into the trap of a "customer conference".
People in Cam Giang buy goods at "customer conference" at prices many times higher than the actual price.
On the afternoon of August 4, many people in Cao An commune and Lai Cach town (Cam Giang) were stunned after realizing that they had been scammed when they spent from several million to nearly 20 million VND to buy items such as gas stoves, infrared stoves, electric pressure cookers... at prices many times higher than the actual price.
Many people only realize they have been scammed after the sales people quietly leave.
According to the reporter's investigation, since the morning of August 3, a group of people have rented a place at a restaurant in Cao An commune (adjacent to Lai Cach town) to organize a "customer conference" and sent invitations to people, mainly elderly women. The invitation clearly stated the organizing unit, the time of the event, the program content, including free use of laundry detergent, fish sauce, seasoning powder, dishwashing liquid; customers attending will be supported with 50,000 VND and a 1 kg seasoning powder package. Many people confidently attended, each person who invited one more person would receive an additional gift, so the number of participants increased by the hour and reached several hundred people.
People buy fake SHARP rice cookers at prices 6 times higher than real ones.
As the invitation stated, on the first day, all participants received 50,000 VND and a packet of seasoning powder. The next morning (August 4), in addition to receiving money and gifts, participants were also drawn to win prizes worth several hundred thousand VND. After that, the subjects began to introduce products of greater value with the trick of buying and refunding. To gain trust, the subjects refunded the first two customers after buying electric pressure cookers on the morning of August 4 and announced that the items were limited and would be sold at noon, and those who arrived early would be able to buy.
With the belief that they would get a refund for their purchases and still be given a ticket to participate in the lucky draw on August 5, many people were willing to spend from several million to nearly 20 million VND to buy items such as the SRAPP electric pressure cooker (priced at 4,650,000 VND), a double gas stove (priced at over 7 million VND), an infrared stove (over 4 million VND), a non-stick pan (700,000 VND)... For those who did not bring money, the subjects enticed them to borrow money from others to buy and then get a refund to pay and only keep 50,000 VND. Only when the subjects had sold all the goods, collected enough money and left quietly did people realize that they had "fallen into the trap".
Invitations to the public
On some e-commerce platforms, SHARP electric pressure cookers (no SRAPP pots) of the correct type and model number are only from 600,000-700,000 VND/unit.
