The People's Council of Kim Thanh district (Hai Duong) has just approved the general planning task of two new urban areas, Lai Khe and Dong Cam.
Specifically, the master plan for the new urban area of Lai Khe until 2045 includes the entire administrative boundary of Lai Khe commune with a total area of 888.32 hectares. The current population is more than 12,900 people, forecasted to be more than 14,700 people by 2030, and more than 16,100 people by 2045.
Lai Khe new urban area is a type V urban area, a district-level specialized center, an industrial-urban development urban area and a satellite of the dynamic urban area (Phu Thai urban area) with the role of promoting the socio-economic development of a cluster of communes in the west of Kim Thanh district and increasing connectivity between urban areas in the province and neighboring areas.
The new urban master plan of Dong Cam until 2045 includes the entire administrative boundary of Dong Cam commune with a total area of 699.34 hectares. The current population is over 10,300 people, forecasted to be nearly 14,000 people by 2030, and over 20,100 people by 2045.
Dong Cam new urban area is a type V urban area, a district-level specialized center, an industrial-urban development urban area and a satellite of the dynamic urban area (Phu Thai urban area); it plays a role in promoting the socio-economic development of a cluster of inter-commune areas in the south of Kim Thanh district and increasing connectivity between urban areas in the province and neighboring areas.
Dong Cam and Lai Khe new urban areas will be planned for sustainable development, in harmony with the environment; playing the role of the nucleus and driving force for socio-economic development of Kim Thanh district in general and Hai Duong province in particular. Creating a living and working environment for people with full urban facilities and services.
After the District People's Council approves the general planning task for these two urban areas, Kim Thanh district will submit the dossier to the Department of Construction for appraisal before the Provincial People's Committee considers and issues an approval decision.
Previously, in early February 2025, Kim Thanh district had the new urban area of Phu Thai approved by the Provincial People's Committee for its general planning until 2045.
