The place associated with famous generals who made great achievements
The name Dong Khe Trang dates back to the pre-Ly Dynasty (6th century). According to the legend and the appearance of Dong Khe village, the famous general Dao Cong Tuan was born and raised in Cot Dong Trieu market land. He was handsome, intelligent, and a good student. He was the son of his father Dao Thanh and his mother Hoang Thi An, from Y Yen district (now Nam Dinh province).
At the age of 7, he lost his father. He and his mother went to Loi Khe Trang, next to Dong Khe Trang, and were taken in by a rich man named Pham. A few years later, his mother passed away. At the age of 18, responding to the call of King Ly Nam De to fight the Liang invaders to save the country, the famous general Dao Cong Tuan helped the king devise battle strategies and won every battle. Due to his many achievements, he was rewarded by the king and allowed to visit his mother, but she had already passed away.
Feeling sorry for his mother, after 100 days of not eating, he returned to the Buddha realm when he was still very young. Not long after his death, the country was invaded again. The king returned to Loi Khe (now Lang Khe) to set up a fort to fight the enemy and divided his army into 3 camps: Dong Khe, Bach Da, Nhan Ly. Dao Cong Tuan secretly helped the king defeat the enemy, and was given a temple to thank him in Lang Khe (formerly Loi Khe), and was granted the title of Supreme Spirit, and was given to the places where the king had stationed troops to fight the enemy and 3 villages: Lang Khe, Cam Ly, and Hoang Giap to worship.
During the Nguyen Dynasty, in the 19th century, Dong Khe was a commune of An Luong commune, Nam Sach district, Hai Duong town. After the August Revolution in 1945, Dong Khe commune was changed to Dong Khe village, An Lam commune, Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province. Today, Dong Khe is a residential area in Nam Sach town. This is the place where the families Nguyen, Doan, Pham, Vuong, Le, and Hoang lived and worked.

In particular, the 28-room ancient communal house is one of the largest communal houses in Nam Sach district, with many steles and royal decrees of the village's tutelary god.
The communal house has 3 rooms, a brick yard surrounded by walls. The ancient temple of literature has 8 spacious rooms. The temple of literature and the communal house also have steles recording the names of the successful candidates of the commune. Unfortunately, these relics were all destroyed during the years of resistance against the French. The system of relics and antiquities such as steles, royal decrees, and worship objects were also lost. Only a few merit steles remain, kept in the communal house and pagoda (newly built) and on the land of some families.
