Prosecution and arrest of former Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Quynh

On January 19, Lieutenant General To An Xo, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, said that expanding the investigation into the AIC Company case, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency has prosecuted Nguyen Tu Quynh (former Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province) and 3 other defendants.

As a result of the expanded investigation into the case of "Violating regulations on bidding causing serious consequences" occurring at the Medical Construction Project Management Board under the Department of Health of Bac Ninh province, AIC Company and related units, on January 19, the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security (Department of Investigation Police on Crimes of Corruption, Economy, Smuggling) issued a Decision to supplement the Decision to prosecute the criminal case of "Giving bribes, Receiving bribes, Taking advantage of positions and powers while performing official duties" for the above case.

At the same time, the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security has issued Decisions to prosecute the accused, Arrest Warrants for temporary detention, and Search Warrants against: Nguyen Tu Quynh (former Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province); Nguyen Hanh Chung (former Director of the Department of Health, currently Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Bac Ninh province) for the crime of "Receiving bribes" as prescribed in Clause 4, Article 354 of the Penal Code 2015; prosecuted Nguyen Van Nhuong (former Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province) for the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 356 of the Penal Code 2015.

The Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security issued a Decision to prosecute Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan (Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and General Director of AIC Company) for the crime of "Giving bribes" as prescribed in Clause 4, Article 364 of the 2015 Penal Code.

After the Supreme People's Procuracy approved the above Decisions and Orders, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency organized the implementation in accordance with legal provisions.

Currently, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency is continuing to expand the investigation of the case, applying measures according to law to thoroughly recover assets for the State.
