Western tourists like to travel to Con Dao

Foreign visitors are quite satisfied when they first visit this archipelago.

Not yet "industrialized"

Valentin and Marion, French tourists, plan to travel to Vietnam for 5 weeks. They learned about Con Dao through an article introduced by a travel blogger in their home country.

"This person suggested Phu Quoc (Kien Giang) and Con Dao as two beautiful beach tourist destinations in Vietnam. When we researched, we were more impressed with Con Dao and decided to choose this as our stopover," Marion shared with Zing.

The male tourist commented that this archipelago is still wild, not creating a feeling of "industrialization" like Phu Quoc. Besides, he had never heard his friends mention Con Dao so he was quite curious and wanted to explore it.

During their three days here, two French tourists spent most of their time exploring the beaches. The clear blue water and fine white sand were what they liked most about Con Dao.

"There are many beautiful beaches, we can play there all day. However, the weather in Con Dao this season is quite erratic. The sudden rains somewhat affect my schedule," Marion said.

Sharing the same feeling, Stef, a Dutch tourist, commented that the weather in Con Dao would be better if it didn't rain.

"It seems the weather is not very favorable for my trip. This is my first day in Con Dao but it has already rained. Hopefully the coming days will be sunny so I can sunbathe at the beach," said the male tourist.

When asked about his travel plans, Stef said he planned to spend a lot of time exploring the beaches. The male tourist added that this was also the reason he chose to go to Con Dao.

Stef learned about the archipelago through a Vietnam travel guide. He was immediately drawn to the beautiful, clear beaches of Con Dao that appeared in the book.

Before coming here, the Dutch tourist had time to visit Ho Chi Minh City. Stef commented that the pace of life in Con Dao is completely different. This archipelago is still quite wild, peaceful and does not have many foreign visitors.

"No matter where I go, people are always happy and enthusiastic to support me. However, I have more difficulty communicating with people on the island," he said.

Czech female tourist hopes Con Dao will develop further

Has potential for growth

Spending 5 days exploring this archipelago, Lisa, a tourist from the Czech Republic, commented that Con Dao has potential for tourism development.

"The natural landscape here is very beautiful. For those who love the sea, this will be quite an interesting destination. Besides the main island, there are many small islands around here to explore," said Lisa.

If only considering the natural landscape, Czech tourists are quite satisfied, but she thinks that is not enough for a tourist destination.

The female tourist said that the tourism infrastructure in Con Dao is quite basic. Lisa did not find many cafes, bakeries, pubs, restaurants or large supermarkets on the island.

Besides, she also assessed that Con Dao's popularity is not high. Lisa's friends hardly know about this archipelago, they mainly mention Phu Quoc, Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan) when they want to travel to the sea in Vietnam.

"I think if there were more tourism services, Con Dao could become as famous as the above destinations," Lisa said.

Similarly, French tourist Valentin also thinks that Con Dao needs more restaurants. She commented that the seafood here is very fresh. However, besides seafood, the female tourist does not have many options for her meals.

The female tourist visited several other provinces and cities before coming to Con Dao. She shared that she did not have enough time to explore all the cuisines at some destinations.

"I think the islands would be more popular if this was fixed. It's hard to have a good travel experience on an empty stomach," Valentin said.

In addition, the evenings in Con Dao are quite boring because there are not many fun and entertaining activities. Valentin commented that the islanders go to bed quite early, which may make the group of guests who want to enjoy nightlife services dissatisfied.
