More than 62,000 Tet train tickets sold after 2 weeks

On October 14, Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company announced that after 2 weeks of selling train tickets for the Lunar New Year 2025, more than 62,000 tickets have been successfully sold (paid) to passengers traveling during the Lunar New Year. Currently, there are still quite a few train tickets left for the Lunar New Year.

According to the plan, during the 2025 Lunar New Year, there will be 388 trains with 167,000 seats serving passengers, a decrease of 38,000 seats compared to 2024. If demand increases, the railway industry will organize additional trains during peak days before and after Tet.

This year, the railway industry will not sell extra seats and will also convert 11 seat cars into sleeper cars, reducing the number of trips and seats compared to last year.

According to Mr. Thai Van Truyen, General Director of Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, there are still many tickets for Lunar New Year 2025.

The period before Tet is still available on all routes, of which from January 22 and before and from January 26-28, 2025 (the 23 and before and December 27-29) there are still tickets to all stations; from January 23-25, 2025 (December 24-26) there are still many tickets to Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, other stations mainly have soft seats. After Tet there are still many tickets to all days, all stations.

Train ticket prices for Tet 2025 will increase by 4-5% compared to the same period last year, depending on the route and type of train.

The highest ticket price is for sleeper SE2 train during peak time from January 21-27, 2025 at more than VND3.2 million/ticket, higher than VND3.1 million last year. VIP tickets in 2-berth cabins cost up to VND6.4 million.

The lowest ticket price is for soft seats on TN4/6 trains during peak season on the Saigon-Hanoi route, starting at over VND2.2 million/ticket, unchanged from last year.

The railway industry is applying many preferential policies to support passengers: Discounts for social policy beneficiaries, union members, passengers with customer cards; 3% discount on ticket prices for trains departing from Saigon station on January 27, 2025 (ie December 28) and traveling from 1,000km or more; 5% discount on return ticket prices for passengers buying round-trip tickets, especially students will receive a 10-20% discount on ticket prices depending on the date of travel.

Regarding the New Year, Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company has opened for sale trains that run regularly during and after the 2025 New Year: Trains SE1/SE2, SE3/SE4, SE5/SE6, SE7/SE8 (Saigon-Hanoi), train SE21/SE22 (Saigon-Da Nang), train SNT1/SNT2 (Saigon-Nha Trang), train SPT1/SPT2 (Saigon-Phan Thiet).

When passenger demand increases, the company will organize additional trains and add more cars to best serve customer demand.
