Harry and Meghan bought the rights to adapt the novel "Meet Me at the Lake", about a couple who have many similarities to them.

On August 6, Deadline reported that the royal couple had bought the rights to a book by Canadian author Carley Fortune. In the novel, the male and female protagonists meet in their 30s. They both experienced childhood trauma, including losing their mother in a car accident, and have some mental health issues. The book is set near Toronto, Canada, where Meghan lived when she first fell in love with Harry.

According to The Sun, Harry and Meghan are interested in the subject matter of the book. The cost of the adaptation rights is estimated at $3.8 million. This is Carley Fortune's second work, released in May, selling 37,000 copies in its first week. The book's publisher, Penguin Random House, also released Harry's memoir Spare. The film's production is expected to face many difficulties, as many Hollywood writers and actors are on strike.

The film is part of the couple's five-year deal with Netflix, worth an estimated $100 million. Last year, they released the documentary Harry and Meghan (2022), which attracted a lot of attention, becoming the second most viewed series in the platform's history.

They are preparing to release a new documentary - Heart of Invictus. If successful, the project will boost Harry and Meghan's partnership with Netflix, which is said to be under threat. The Sun believes Netflix may not renew the contract with the couple. Last year, the animated series Pearl - produced by Meghan - was "quietly canceled" by Netflix.

Harry (38 years old), the youngest son of King Charles and the late Princess Diana, married Meghan, a former American television actress in 2018 and welcomed his first son Archie in May 2019.

Born in California, USA, Meghan Markle (41 years old) graduated from Northwestern University in 2003. She played supporting roles in several TV series. In 2018, she was honored by Time magazine in the list of 100 most influential people in the world.

Meghan and Harry left the Royal Family and started their lives in the US in 2020. After a shocking interview with Oprah Winfrey, they were the focus of the media. The two attracted attention when they released their autobiography, a documentary about their life in the British Royal Family. The couple accused a member of the Royal Family of racism towards their son, sparking the biggest crisis in seven decades of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.

After three years in Hollywood, many experts say Harry and Meghan's "media empire" is shaking. On June 15, Spotify announced the termination of a $20 million contract with Meghan and Harry's production company Archewell Audio. Bill Simmons - Spotify's international sports manager - called Meghan and Harry "fraudulent". In January 2022, he also complained that the couple only knew how to sell documentaries and podcasts and that no one cared unless they complained about the Royal family, according to The Guardian.
