The explosion occurred seconds after the prayer ended.

A local government official confirmed the blasts took place inside a convention centre in Kerala state's Ernakulam district, where a group of Christians were holding a prayer meeting.

Some sources said the explosion occurred seconds after the prayer ended. The first explosion occurred in the middle of the hall. Seconds later, two explosions occurred simultaneously on either side of the hall.

Local media reported that the Christian group was holding a three-day regional conference and that more than 2,000 people had registered to attend.

Kerala Health Minister Veena George said health and medical education departments have been directed to provide quality treatment to the injured.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has decided to dispatch a team to the scene. According to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, state government officials and police have been dispatched to the area where the series of explosions occurred to take stock of the situation.

The cause of the explosions is not yet clear.
