Hai Duong prevents child sexual abuse crimes

In recent times, Hai Duong Provincial Police have actively coordinated to promote measures to manage, educate, and protect children from abuse, while resolutely combating and strictly handling all types of crimes and acts of sexual abuse against children. However, in reality, child sexual abuse is still complicated. There are many reasons, partly due to the fact that the work of educating and managing children is sometimes and in some places still lax and has not received due attention. Children, especially teenage girls, are not fully equipped with skills to prevent sexual abuse.

In the current digital age, the online environment is one of the important spaces serving the learning, communication and entertainment of children. However, this is also a place with many potential risks leading to acts of child sexual abuse. Bad guys mainly take advantage of social networks and dating applications to lure, entice, and force children to perform bad actions and behaviors or find ways to approach and meet children to commit acts of sexual abuse. A typical case is the case of Dong Anh Tuan (born in 1997, residing in Kim Dinh commune) who took advantage of the dating application Soul and social networks Zalo, Facebook to make friends, approach and then commit acts of sexual abuse against NTDQ (born in 2010, residing in Tam Ky commune, Kim Thanh district) which occurred last May. Dong Anh Tuan was temporarily detained by the Criminal Police Department, Hai Duong Provincial Police for investigation, clarification and handling according to regulations.

In some cases, when the authorities approached to investigate and verify, there were cases where parents, due to confusion and lack of legal knowledge, accidentally lost important traces and evidence, making the investigation and discovery work of the authorities encounter many difficulties, and there were not enough documents and evidence to prove the perpetrator of the crime.

To improve the effectiveness of child sexual abuse prevention, the police agency recommends that parents and schools pay attention to educating and raising children's awareness of issues related to gender and age psychology. At the same time, equip children with skills to prevent sexual abuse so that they know how to protect themselves. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to equipping children with knowledge of behavior in the online environment according to each age so that they know how to interact safely.

Parents and relatives of children need to play a role in monitoring and protecting their children, promptly detecting any abnormalities in their children's psychology and physiology in order to have appropriate solutions. Parents also need to have the necessary knowledge to join hands with the authorities to prevent and combat acts of abuse; promptly notify the authorities when detecting criminal acts, avoid losing or changing traces and evidence to serve the investigation and handling of subjects before the law.

The provincial police have requested that accommodation establishments, motels, and hotels in the area not accept girls under 16 years old traveling with people of the opposite sex without documents proving family relationships or cases showing unusual signs when staying. Everyone who discovers cases of child sexual abuse should quickly inform the nearest police agency.
