This is the first time Hanoi Heart Hospital has implemented this program in Hai Duong.
On October 22, at Hai Duong Children's Hospital, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Hai Duong in collaboration with Hanoi Heart Hospital organized free heart disease screening for children under 16 years old in the province.
Doctors at Hanoi Heart Hospital conduct clinical examinations for children. All suspected cases are given ultrasounds and consultations to check and detect cardiovascular diseases.
Children with surgery indications from policy families, poor households, near-poor households, and families in especially difficult circumstances will receive free surgery from experts and doctors of Hanoi Heart Hospital in the near future.
Children with congenital heart disease but not yet indicated for surgery are managed and monitored by doctors at Hai Duong Children's Hospital.
On October 22, 213 children were examined and 25 cases of congenital heart disease were detected, of which 16 cases required surgery/intervention and 9 cases required further medical monitoring (no surgery/intervention was required). Of the 25 cases detected, 8 were newborns.
