Responding to the 2nd "Million Kind Steps" Campaign, Hai Duong strives for each locality to have at least 250 participants.
On the morning of December 10, at Thanh Dong University, the Hai Duong Provincial Red Cross launched the second "Million Steps of Kindness" Campaign and held a seminar on "Improving the quality of voluntary blood donation in the province".
Responding to the second "Million Steps of Kindness" Campaign, Hai Duong strives for each district, town, and city to mobilize at least 250 people to participate in walking and jogging. By the end of the campaign, each locality will have covered at least 6,500 km. The amount of money collected from the campaign will support the "Charitable Tet Spring At Ty 2025" Program; organize activities for community health, humanitarian medical examination, free medicine distribution; support nutrition for poor and disabled children.
In early 2024, in response to the first "Million Steps of Kindness" Campaign, the whole province had about 1,100 people participating in running and walking nearly 24,000 km, exceeding the target set by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society by 100 people and 14,000 km. The running and walking results were equivalent to VND 120 million to support community humanitarian activities.
"Million Steps of Kindness" is a program launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society. Participants install the vRace application on smart mobile devices. This application will record the distance that participants walk and run. Each kilometer will correspond to 5,000 VND to support social activities.
At the seminar "Improving the quality of voluntary blood donation in the province", the opinions assessed the current situation, analyzed the difficulties and limitations in the mobilization work to propose effective and practical solutions. In particular, focusing on propaganda work, building a sustainable blood donation force in the community and improving the quality and efficiency of blood collection.
According to the Hai Duong Provincial Red Cross, in the period 2021-2024, the whole province mobilized and received 87,734 units of blood. The number of blood units received increased each year, with 25,632 units of blood collected in 2024 alone. The average rate of repeat blood donors over the years reached 92.5%. However, the rate of blood donation in the province is 1.3%, still lower than the national average (the national rate is 1.5% of the population).
