Hai Duong focuses on implementing the 2X strategy in tuberculosis prevention.

Staff of Hai Duong Lung Hospital enter the list of new tuberculosis patients into the system for monitoring and treatment management.

This is a strategy in diagnosing tuberculosis using chest X-ray and testing with XPERT/RIF technique.

It is expected that Hai Duong Lung Hospital will coordinate with at least 2 District Health Centers to implement this content. District Health Centers are responsible for guiding commune health stations to review and compile a list of people at high risk of TB such as living in families with TB patients, people infected with HIV, people with diabetes, high blood pressure, obstructive pulmonary disease, poor resistance, etc. On that basis, Hai Duong Lung Hospital will organize a team to go to the grassroots to examine and screen for TB for people by taking chest X-rays and testing using XPERT/RIF technique.

In 2022, Hai Duong Lung Hospital coordinated screening tests for about 8,000 people at risk of tuberculosis in Tu Ky, Ninh Giang, Binh Giang districts and Kinh Mon town.

The 2X Strategy was launched by the Ministry of Health in 2020 with the goal of ending tuberculosis by 2030. However, the goal of this strategy is being threatened when the number of new tuberculosis patients in the country in general and Hai Duong in particular is not small. In the first quarter of this year alone, the whole province admitted 226 tuberculosis patients, an increase of 26 patients compared to the same period in 2022.
