Defeating U17 Myanmar, U17 Vietnam has a bright chance to win a ticket to the Asian finals

U17 Vietnam entered the second match of Group I of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship qualifiers against U17 Myanmar. Coach Cristiano Roland and his team had to win to keep their ambition of reaching the final round alive. After the opening whistle, U17 Vietnam played more scientifically and methodically than their opponents. Hong Phong and his teammates continuously pressured Myanmar.

The white-shirted midfielders completely controlled the midfield. Up front, Van Duong, Thien Phu and Viet Long made the Myanmar defense falter with many impressive dribbles. However, what U17 Vietnam lacked was sharpness in decisive situations. They lacked a bit of luck to be able to score a goal.

The first dangerous opportunity came to U17 Vietnam in the 18th minute. Hoang Khanh jumped high to head the ball in the penalty area but the U17 Myanmar goalkeeper controlled the situation. In the following minutes, U17 Vietnam had many more dangerous situations. In the 44th minute, Viet Long dribbled the ball at speed, passed 2 opposing players and shot powerfully but the goal still did not come. The first half passed without any goals being scored.

In the second half, head coach Cristiano Roland made some adjustments in personnel and tactics. The Brazilian coach's decision soon showed its effectiveness. The attacks of U17 Vietnam were much more dangerous than in the first half of the match. The goal for Viet Anh and his teammates was only a matter of time.

In the 69th minute, Viet Long dribbled the ball very well on the right wing before making a favorable cross for Van Duong to head the ball in to open the score. With the lead, U17 Vietnam was able to relieve the psychological pressure. Coach Roland's students played much better.

In the 89th minute, Duy Dang crossed accurately for Gia Bao to tap the ball into the empty net of U17 Myanmar, sealing a 2-0 victory for U17 Vietnam.
