Hanoi will start construction of a road worth more than 5,200 billion VND on October 10.

The investment project to build Thang Long Avenue, the section connecting National Highway 21B to Hanoi-Hoa Binh Expressway, will be started by Hanoi City on the morning of October 10.

According to information from the Hanoi City Civil Works Construction Investment Project Management Board, the Thang Long Avenue construction investment project, the section connecting National Highway 21B to Hanoi-Hoa Binh Expressway, will be started on the morning of October 10 in Xuan Tien Commune, Thach That District (Hanoi).

Accordingly, the route is about 6.7km long. The starting point connects with the asterisk intersection between Thang Long Avenue and National Highway 21, Thach Hoa Commune, Thach That District. The end point connects with Hoa Lac-Hoa Binh Road at the intersection with Van Hoa Village Road, Yen Binh Commune, Thach That District with a cross-section of 120-180m.

The route has 4 bridges (over rivers, level crossings) and 5 tunnels (1 underpass running directly along the main route serving the expressway component and 4 underpasses for people across the road). The total investment of the project is more than 5,200 billion VND from the city budget and central support.

When completed, the route will improve operating conditions, ensure traffic safety, connect the Western and Southwestern provinces with the Capital; create conditions for socio-economic development, security and defense, be the driving force for the development of Hoa Lac satellite urban area and the Western satellite urban chain; meet the rapidly increasing transportation demand between the center of the Capital and the Western region and connect with the Ho Chi Minh route.

Currently, the section connecting Thang Long Avenue to Hoa Lac-Hoa Binh Expressway is a 12m wide asphalt concrete road, the road surface has degraded.

The 26km Hoa Lac-Hoa Binh Expressway has been in operation since October 2018 with a scale of 2 lanes, speed of 80km/h. This route is planned to be expanded into a 4-lane expressway, followed by the Hoa Binh-Son La expressway in the future.

Thang Long Avenue is about 30km long, a radial expressway to the West, connecting the center of Hanoi with Hoa Binh and the Northwestern provinces, and has been in operation since October 2010 with a scale of 6 expressway lanes and parallel roads on both sides.
