According to information from People's Artist Pham Ngoc Khoi, Vice President of the Vietnam Musicians Association, Professor and musician Chu Minh passed away at around 2:00 a.m. on October 17 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Hospital. He was 92 years old.

Musician Chu Minh's real name is Trieu Dat Hien, born in 1931 in Hanoi. He grew up in a well-off family of civil servants. From a young age, he showed a passion for music. Chu Minh began learning the violin at the age of 11. After that, he joined the revolution.

From 1947 to 1950, young man Trieu Dat Hien worked at the Armed Propaganda Team of the Central Propaganda Department.

In the 1950s, he was one of the first to establish the Central People's Art Troupe during the Indochina War. While in charge of the Central Song and Dance Troupe, he was often invited to perform at the Presidential Palace.

From 1961 to 1965, musician Chu Minh studied Composition at the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music. After graduating, he returned to the Vietnam Music School (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music) to teach composition, and also served as Head of the School's Theory - Composition - Conducting Department...

Together with musicians who matured during the resistance war against France and after peace was restored (1954), musician Chu Minh contributed to the cause of building and developing revolutionary music - new Vietnamese music in the second half of the 20th century and the first decades of the 21st century.

The number of works that musician Chu Minh composed is not much, but he is a pioneer and a "master" in the new music of Vietnam. He is one of the few musicians of his generation who is successful in both genres: vocal and instrumental music.
