Age fraud, Song Lam Nghe An had the 2024 National U11 Championship Cup revoked

On the evening of September 9, VFF issued consecutive penalties related to the age fraud scandal of the Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) team in the 2024 National U11 tournament.

Accordingly, U11 SLNA was fined 10 million VND and banned U11 Song Lam Nghe An from participating in football tournaments organized by VFF for 2 years due to registering and using players of incorrect age; seriously violating the regulations of the 2024 National U11 Football Tournament. At the same time, the title, cup, flag, medal and bonus of SLNA team at the 2024 National U11 Football Tournament was revoked.

Information about SLNA players cheating on their age in the national youth tournament caused a stir in public opinion in July 2024. Some sources reported that a young player named BVB of the Nghe An team was 12 years old when he participated in the national U9 championship and won the championship in 2022.

At the 2024 National U11 Tournament, BVB players continued to participate and play outstandingly. However, there is information that B (from Ha Tinh) was born in 2010, which means he is 14 years old. Some friends and parents said that BVB studied in grade 3 in Ha Tinh in the 2018/2019 school year.

In addition to the penalty for SLNA, VFF continued to punish individuals such as the head of the delegation and head coach of the Nghe An youth team.

"Ban Mr. Tran Quang Dung, Head of the SLNA U11 team, from participating in football tournaments managed and organized by VFF for 2 years due to registering and using players of incorrect age; seriously violating the regulations of the 2024 National U11 Football Tournament.", Decision No. 625 stated.

The same penalty was also given to Mr. Nguyen Quang Tho, head coach of U11 SLNA.

In the 2024 National U11 Finals, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tho and his team played convincingly and won the Championship Cup after a 1-0 victory over Bac Ninh in the final match.
