Prices of poultry eggs and green vegetables increase

February 24, 2023 12:00

According to poultry farmers in Cam Giang, Nam Sach districts and Kinh Mon town, the price of poultry eggs has increased again compared to mid-February.

Currently, the price of chicken eggs sold at the farm is about 20,000 VND/dozen, an increase of 4,000 VND compared to mid-February.

Specifically, chicken eggs sold at farms are 20,000 VND/dozen, an increase of 4,000 VND; duck eggs are 27,000 - 29,000 VND/dozen, an increase of 4,000 - 5,000 VND. At traditional markets, egg prices have also increased again, ranging from 30,000 - 35,000 VND/dozen.

Previously, the price of poultry eggs decreased by 5,000 - 7,000 VND/dozen, depending on the type. The reason was that during the Lunar New Year, the demand for eggs decreased, so there were many eggs left in the farms. Currently, the consumption market has returned to normal.

According to the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, the total number of egg-laying poultry in the province is currently about 2.5 million, concentrated in Cam Giang, Nam Sach, Gia Loc districts and Kinh Mon town. Each month, the consumption output is about 50 million eggs.

* According to some traders at Thanh Binh and Dong Ngo Quyen markets (Hai Duong city), the price of green vegetables has increased sharply compared to the previous period. Specifically, chrysanthemum greens are 15,000 VND/bunch, cabbage is 15,000-20,000 VND/head, kohlrabi is 8,000-10,000 VND/root, mustard greens, celery and jute are at 15,000 VND/bunch, all increased by 5,000-10,000 VND compared to the beginning of February.

Vegetable prices increase due to limited supply

According to traders, the reason is that the winter vegetable growing areas have basically finished harvesting, while the winter-spring vegetable production has just begun, so the source of green vegetables is limited. However, if the weather gradually warms up, the price of green vegetables will quickly "cool down".
