Provincial Road 291 connecting National Highway 279 to Ha Long City (Quang Ninh) is expected to start construction in October.

This project is invested by the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic and Agricultural Works. The total investment is more than 55 billion VND from the provincial budget, implemented in the period of 2023-2025 in Son Dong district.

The length of the route is about 2.83 km, passing through Thanh Luan commune; starting point at Km27+600; ending point at the border between Bac Giang and Quang Ninh provinces (continuing with the project part invested by Quang Ninh province).

The project includes the following items: Roadbed, road surface, longitudinal and cross drainage systems; roadbed slope stabilization works; traffic safety on the route. The road surface width is 6.5 m.

The project is implemented to renovate the DT291 section from Km27+600 to the border with Quang Ninh province, gradually completing the province's transport infrastructure network according to the plan, while strengthening the spatial connection of the eastern region of the province with Quang Ninh province and national roads running through the area.

According to the representative of the provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Traffic and Agricultural Works, at this time, the unit is building an outline of the task of surveying and designing construction drawings, and developing a plan to select contractors to start the project in October this year.

It is expected that the above route will be completed and put into use in 2024, contributing to convenient traffic for people of the two provinces and promoting socio-economic development in the area.
