According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), this year, due to the 5-day holiday from April 30 to May 1, the operating output of its affiliated airports is expected to increase during the 7 days from April 26 to May 2.
Specifically, the domestic exploitation output across the entire ACV port network is expected to be about 9,000 takeoffs and landings, with an average of 1,285 takeoffs and landings/day (an increase of 16.5% compared to the average of a normal day in April 2024, equal to 98% compared to the same period in 2023), the passenger output is estimated at 1,530,000 passengers, an average of 218,600 passengers/day (an increase of 15 - 20% compared to a normal day in April 2024, equal to 98% compared to the same period in 2021). The peak day is expected to be April 26 with 1,530 takeoffs and landings and 260,000 passengers.
At Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the peak domestic take-off and landing volume is expected to be 490 take-offs and landings (an increase of 25% compared to the average of a normal day in March 2022, equal to 98% compared to the same period in 2023), 85,000 passengers (an increase of 20 - 24% compared to a normal day in April 2024, equal to 96% compared to the same period in 2023).

Airports with high expected output during the April 30 - May 1 holiday will be tourist attractions: Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Cam Ranh, Phu Bai, Phu Cat, Lien Khuong, Dien Bien, Dong Hoi, Con Dao.
In order to better serve the increased flights during the April 30 - May 1 holiday in 2024, ACV's airports have had detailed plans to serve the peak season, such as: developing many plans to ensure smooth travel conditions for air passengers; enhancing the application of information technology to effectively operate operations during peak periods; applying the coordinated decision-making model (A-CDM) to help operate flight operations effectively, smoothly, and improve on-time performance.
Currently, some ports have successfully tested non-stop automatic toll lanes to help vehicles with ETC cards quickly exit, bringing convenience to passengers and minimizing local congestion during peak hours. In addition, airports have increased coordination with functional forces to regulate, guide, and separate traffic lanes...
To quickly complete aviation procedures and ensure safe and on-time flights, ACV recommends that passengers prepare all personal documents, carefully read the airline's regulations on transportation requirements, and not carry prohibited items according to aviation regulations. Passengers should attach name tags, write their names, phone numbers, or easily identifiable signs on their luggage, foam boxes, and cardboard boxes for easy retrieval and to avoid other passengers taking them by mistake.
Passengers should proactively check in early before the flight (arrive 2 hours before the flight for domestic flights, 3 hours before the flight for international flights) to avoid the risk of flight delays due to traffic jams on the way to the airport or local congestion at the terminal during some "golden" hours. At the same time, check in online or check in yourself at the airline's kiosks at the terminal to reduce the time spent queuing at the check-in counter; after checking in, passengers, especially those traveling in groups, need to quickly line up at the security checkpoint. Passengers should follow the instructions of security staff, check their belongings, and make sure they do not leave them behind in the security screening area.
Upon landing, follow the instructions of airline staff and ground staff to follow the correct route into the terminal and receive all of your luggage. If there is a problem with your luggage, immediately notify the nearest airline staff or ground staff;
Passengers need to carefully study the regulations when taking a plane to absolutely avoid violations of security, order, safety, and aviation security, for example, recent violations such as walking/standing/lying/sitting on the baggage conveyor belt; dancing, checking in in the aircraft parking area; bringing prohibited items onto the plane...
Passengers are also encouraged to experience public transport instead of using personal vehicles to reduce pressure on car parks at airports; Limit relatives from seeing them off to reduce pressure at the terminal, creating a smooth flow for passengers; At the same time, cooperate and comply with the instructions of airline staff in the service chain. The frontline staff of the units has been strengthened to be ready to support passengers, from security staff, ground service staff, airlines, etc.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, it is expected that Vietnamese airlines will provide about 900,000 seats and 9,000 flights on domestic routes during the peak holiday period of April 30 - May 1. Compared to the same period last year, the total number of domestic and international seats increased by more than 10% and 12%, respectively; Vietjet is expected to add 86,000 seats, equivalent to nearly 425 flights on tourist routes during this holiday.
