After winning the gold medal in the quadrant (4-person) event, the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team continued to the final of the regu (3-person) event. Facing a stronger opponent, coach Tran Thi Vui and her team could not win like 3 days ago.

The defeat of the Vietnamese team in the regu final was not surprising. Thailand was the strongest team in this event and they clearly showed that in 2 games with a total time of only 37 minutes.

The Vietnamese team was always behind in both games. The Thai players were superior in both scoring and defending. In particular, the Thai team served very well.

Thai players identified the weak defensive position of the Vietnamese team. They continuously attacked the position of captain Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen. The Vietnamese team had no effective plan to counterattack.

In the end, coach Tran Thi Vui and her team lost after 2 games with the scores of 15-21, 12-21 and won the silver medal. The Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team completed their mission at the 19th ASIAD with one gold medal (women's quadrant), one silver medal (women's regu) and one bronze medal (men's regu), meeting the target.

This morning (October 7), the Vietnamese sports delegation did not have any athletes in other sports competing for medals.

Both karate athletes participating in the combat event, Hoang Thi My Tam (female under 55kg) and Do Thanh Nhan (male under 84kg), were eliminated early. The karate team will only compete in the men's kata team event tomorrow.

In wrestling, Can Tat Du lost to Kinoshita Kirin 4-10 in the qualifying round of the men's 74kg freestyle wrestling. Martial artist Hoang Thi Nhat Que lost to Shamma Al Kalbani (UAE) in the round of 16 of the women's under-63kg Ju-jitsu.
