At the People's Court of Cam Giang district (Hai Duong), defendant Than stated that he bought drugs to treat his illness and was not addicted to drugs.

On the morning of October 31, the People's Court of Cam Giang district (Hai Duong) held a first-instance trial of Trinh Huy Than (born in 1968, residing in Cam Giang town, Cam Giang) for illegal possession of drugs.
At 5:30 p.m. on September 10, 2023, at Zone 3, Cam Giang Town, Cam Giang Town Police caught Than red-handed illegally hiding 0.123 grams of heroin for use. During the investigation, Than had been using heroin for many years, so he bought the above drugs for 100,000 VND for use.
Than had been to prison for drug trafficking and illegal possession. In court, the defendant Than stated that he bought the drugs to treat his illness and was not addicted to drugs.
The trial panel sentenced Trinh Huy Than to 16 months in prison for illegal possession of drugs under point c, clause 1, article 249 of the Penal Code.
