Vietnam sports delegation has only 1 athlete left at the 2024 Olympics

On the evening of August 7, Trinh Van Vinh failed to compete in the men's 61kg weightlifting event. After three attempts, the Vietnamese athlete was unable to lift the registered weight. Trinh Van Vinh did not have a snatch result and did not meet the conditions to continue participating in the clean and jerk event.

Thus, the Vietnamese sports delegation has only one athlete left at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Nguyen Thi Huong in the canoeing event. She will participate in the qualifying round of the women's 200m single sculls event on the afternoon of August 8.

Nguyen Thi Huong is excellent and is the most promising young rower in Southeast Asia, worthy of being the pride of Vietnamese sports.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will be the first time in history that a Vietnamese athlete has won an official spot in canoeing. She earned this honor after an impressive qualifying round in April 2024 in Japan.

At the 31st SEA Games at home, Nguyen Thi Huong won 3 individual gold medals and 2 team gold medals. The rower from Vinh Phuc became one of the top medal winners at the 2022 Southeast Asian Games.

It is worth mentioning that Nguyen Thi Huong was born in 2001 - just turned 23 years old. Initially, she was sent to practice wrestling in her hometown Vinh Phuc. But when this sport was dissolved by the locality, Nguyen Thi Huong started practicing boat racing and proved her potential.

After Nguyen Thi Huong's performance, the 2024 Paris Olympics are over for Vietnamese sports. Hopes of winning a medal rest on Trinh Thu Vinh's shoulders in the shooting event.
