The beautiful Ngoc Vung island lies between two small rocky islands, Hon Net and Phuong Hoang island.

Ngoc Vung Island is also known as Ngoc Island. The beautiful island is located between two small rocky islands, Hon Net and Phuong Hoang Island, in Van Don district. Looking down from above, Ngoc Vung Island is as beautiful as a velvet shawl, with many bright white fringes that seem to float on the water surface.

Possessing a 14km long beach, of which 3km is all white sand, this island has great potential for tourism development. In addition, the island is also very favorable for agricultural development, especially rice cultivation, fishing and aquaculture in cages at sea, creating an economy for the islanders.

Ngoc Vung island commune, Van Don district, is a land with a rich history, where many vestiges of the ancient Van Don trading port, the ancient citadel of the Mac dynasty are still preserved...

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Ngoc Vung Island was part of the outpost island line protecting the eastern sky of the Fatherland.

Also on the fine white sand beach on the east side of the island, in 1937, for the first time stone tools from the Ha Long Culture period, late Neolithic period, were discovered, opening the way for excavation and archaeological research to learn the secrets of ancient Ha Long.

Legend of Ngoc Vung Island

The wild and attractive beauty of the island

Legend has it that the island got its name. This area used to have many rare pearls that lit up the sky at night. That’s why the island was named Ngoc Vung. Today, people still dig for pearls in this area. At the same time, pearl farming is also thriving here. From the cruise ship, visitors can see pearl farms bobbing on the sea.

The east side of the island has a kilometer long sandy beach, pure white sand stretching out to the wharf. From Dragon Eye Cape you can see the whole Co To island.

Located in the south of the island is Ngoc Vung beach, with a 3km long sandy beach that shines golden under the sunlight. Coming here, visitors can swim and enjoy the scenery. The seafood here is fresh and cheap, provided by local fishermen.

Ngoc Vung Island has all the topographical elements such as: River, beach, bay, port, plain... On the island there is a lot of fresh water and people here can grow rice. Currently, there are only about 1,000 people on the island. The landscape and peaceful life here make many tourists compare this to a beautiful village in the middle of the ocean.

To get to Ngoc Vung Island, visitors can take a speedboat from Hon Gai Passenger Wharf (Ha Long City) to Ngoc Vung Island or choose a wooden boat from Do Wharf or Cai Rong Port to get to the island. If you are in a large group, you can rent a car to get to the center of the island.
