Hon Nua Island has a very special geographical location, when the northern half of the island belongs to Phu Yen, the southern half of the island belongs to Khanh Hoa. This island has both the majesty of the mountains and hills mixed with the poetic beauty of the ocean.
If you have the opportunity to pass through Ca Pass (National Highway 1, belonging to Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces), you can easily see Hon Nua, a small, pristine island about 1 nautical mile from shore.
Hon Nua is about 35km south of Tuy Hoa city center. The sea water here is as clear as jade, on sunny days you can see all the way to the bottom of the water.
The island also has giant cliffs with a surface crisscrossed with vertical and horizontal cuts, creating a mysterious feeling.
On the top of Hon Nua, there is also a lighthouse with a prominent red color. According to the South Central Coast Maritime Safety Company, Hon Nua lighthouse was built in 2002, is the lighthouse of Vung Ro port, helping ships operating in the waters of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa orient and determine the direction of Vung Ro.
There are no professional tourism activities organized in Hon Nua, but the wild, poetic and completely natural beauty of the island has attracted many visitors to rent boats and canoes to come here to take pictures and immerse themselves in the clear sea water here.
"The feeling of being able to put your face down in the cool sea water, looking down to the bottom of the water with multi-layered coral reefs is an extremely wonderful feeling" - Ms. Le Thi Bich Tuyen (38 years old, a tourist from Dong Nai) expressed.
Mr. Tran Minh Hieu (29 years old, Nha Trang tourist) shared: "I hope that in the near future, the local government will develop tourism on this island in a rich and unique way."
In early March, the People's Committee of Phu Yen province held a conference to promote and call for investment in 33 projects in the Nam Phu Yen economic zone and 37 other projects.
In the field of trade, tourism and services, there are 5 projects, in which Phu Yen calls for investment to develop Hon Nua into a high-class resort.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hong - Vice Chairman of Dong Hoa Town People's Committee - said that the potential for tourism development in Hon Nua is huge.
"Currently, the locality is always actively preserving the ecosystem in Hon Nua to find opportunities to promote the tourism values of this island," said Mr. Hong.
