Defeating the reigning V-League champion, Thanh Hoa Club won the 2023 National Super Cup

The 2023 National Super Cup match was an exciting confrontation between Hanoi Police Club and Thanh Hoa. The victory belonged to Coach Popov's team with a more impressive performance.

Thanh Hoa FC started the game well, pushing the home team back to their own half. After a few shaky first minutes, Hanoi Police FC gradually regained control of the game and organized attacks towards goalkeeper Nguyen Thanh Diep's goal.

However, the first dangerous opportunity belonged to the yellow team. Luiz Soares took a free kick near the penalty area but the ball went right to Filip Nguyen.

Hanoi Police Club had two consecutive responses. Bui Hoang Viet Anh and Nguyen Quang Hai had dangerous shots but could not beat Thanh Diep.

The home team missed a third chance when Geovane failed to beat Thanh Diep in a one-on-one. Coach Tran Tien Dai's players paid the price for that waste.

At the end of the first half, Thanh Hoa was awarded an indirect free kick when Filip Nguyen received a pass back from Le Pham Thanh Long. Gustavo Santos took full advantage of the opportunity from close range, opening the score of the match.

In the second half, coach Tran Tien Dai withdrew Nguyen Quang Hai and Hoang Van Toan from the field. He put his trust in Ho Tan Tai and Pham Gia Hung. However, the Hanoi Police Club was still stuck in finding a way into the opponent's goal. The team's attacks were quite monotonous and did not pose any difficulties to Thanh Hoa's well-organized defense.

While pressing high, Hanoi Police Club received a counterattack. In the 78th minute, Rimario's shot hit Viet Anh, the ball changed direction and went into Filip Nguyen's net.

Three minutes later, the Jamaican striker completed his double when he tapped in from a pass from Luiz Soares.

Hanoi Police Club received an additional disadvantage with Giap Tuan Duong's red card in the 85th minute. Their efforts were only rewarded by Geovane's equalizer in injury time. The home team lost 1-3 and watched their opponents lift the championship trophy.
