I have more confidence in the fight against "internal invaders" after reading the book "Resolutely and persistently fight against corruption and negativity, contributing to building our Party and State increasingly clean and strong" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The fight against corruption and negativity is being promoted at an unprecedented scale and level, as if it has been given more impetus and energy by the publication of a very valuable book. The entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army are organizing extensive political and ideological activities and implementing the fight against corruption and negativity according to the guiding ideology in the book, which has resonated and spread that impetus further.

After reading part 1 and part 2 of the book, I felt like I was watching a movie about many fierce battles in succession. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is like a Commander-in-Chief, commanding the "combined forces" to fight to destroy the enemy of corruption and negativity. But after reading part 3 and the whole book, I felt that there are many things more noble than the battles. I deeply understood the profound message that the Party leader wanted to convey: sometimes we have to accept painful internal battles to achieve the ultimate goal of "building our Party and State clean and strong", to develop a healthy country, so that the nation and people will live forever!

Closing the book, I clearly saw the portrait of the very steadfast political will, profound wisdom, and noble personality of the leader of our Party, Head of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and negativity, an exemplary Party member who is always dedicated, concerned, and troubled about the survival of the country and the Party in the face of the threat of corruption and negativity. A steadfast, resolute, persistent, determined, and fierce communist soldier leading the Party and the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and negativity to fiercely attack the threat of internal invasion, wholeheartedly protecting the Party and the nation. A man of strategy, iron will, but also very humane and affectionate.

Talented theorist and practitioner

In part 1 of the book, readers can easily see that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a sharp theorist and a talented practical activist in the fight against corruption and negativity.

As a theorist, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has given a correct definition of corruption and negativity; the importance of preventing and combating corruption and negativity; identified very sharp and convincing viewpoints, thoughts and guiding principles such as: The purpose of dealing with corruption and negativity is to "treat the disease and save people", disciplining a few people to save thousands of people, prosecuting a case to warn an entire region or field; prevention is fundamental and long-term, combat is urgent and immediate; the fight against corruption and negativity is continuous, without rest, without forbidden areas, without exceptions, regardless of who the person is...

The fight against "internal invaders" is very difficult, fierce and complicated, so the General Secretary requested the synchronous use of many measures, both political, ideological, organizational and administrative, economic and criminal, both "building" and "fighting" and "must have great determination, high unity, drastic and feasible implementation measures, close direction with a correct, sober, calm, non-extremist thinking method, not allowing bad forces to take advantage, distort, incite and sabotage".

More deeply, to prevent the root cause of corruption and negativity, the leader of our Party clearly stated solutions towards the goal of “not being able, not daring, not wanting, not needing corruption and negativity”. Since the country’s Renovation, no one has talked about the theory of preventing corruption and negativity so deeply.

Not only a theorist, in the role of a direct leader and commander of the "battle" against corruption and negativity, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also cares about summarizing practices and drawing many valuable lessons. In part 1 of the book, readers not only see the great, comprehensive, and outstanding achievements, but also grasp many lessons in the fight against "internal invaders" such as being determined and persistent in preventing corruption and negativity; actively preventing, proactively detecting, and promptly handling violations; linking the work of preventing corruption and negativity with the work of building the Party and the political system; promoting the core role and coordination of functional agencies; must turn determination into action, words must go hand in hand with deeds; the measures of struggle must be appropriate to the actual situation of the country...

Those "bloody" experiences did not come about overnight, but were contemplated and summarized by the General Secretary over many decades, inherited from the tradition of fighting corruption and negativity of our ancestors, of our Party through many congresses and absorbing the quintessence of the world.

From practice and theory, the Party leader has set out very appropriate directions, goals, tasks and solutions to continue the fight against corruption and negativity in the coming time.

The work "The Fear of Responsibility" was written by the author 50 years ago but is still relevant today.

Deepen your thinking, improve your understanding

Reading part 2 of the book, we continue to deepen our thinking and improve our understanding. The author of the book mentioned the root of the struggle: "The fundamental issue in the fight against corruption and negativity is to prevent it from afar, from an early age, focusing on building and rectifying the Party and especially preventing and combating the degradation of political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle among cadres and Party members, that is, to eradicate corruption and negativity."

Fighting corruption and negativity is an important measure to build and rectify a clean and strong Party and political system. Conversely, a clean and strong Party is the foundation for fighting corruption and negativity. These are like two sides of the same problem.

The structure of this section into two parts: “A. The Party must self-renew and self-rectify” and “B. Lifelong training, regular self-examination and self-correction” also has many meanings. That is the relationship between the general and the particular, between the collective and the individual. The fight against corruption and negativity is a fight of the entire Party, the entire nation and also a fight within each person, each cadre, party member, and each citizen, as the General Secretary said, a fight against “the enemy within”.

Reading many articles written 40-50 years ago when the author was still working at the Communist Magazine, I find that they are still relevant and have high predictive significance. For example, the article “The Fear of Responsibility” was published in the Communist Magazine in November 1973. These days, the issue of “fear of responsibility”, not daring to take responsibility, doing stagnant work, hindering the country’s development by a number of cadres and party members is still hot, and was mentioned by the author 50 years ago.

The situation of "group interests" that many people have mentioned in recent years was also mentioned in the article "Collusion" published in August 1978.

In 1986 - the year of the beginning of the national renovation, in the Communist Magazine, issue 8, comrade Nguyen Phu Trong wrote an article "Improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party", in which there was a passage: "Resolutely fight against the ideology and lifestyle of chasing after material things, money, selfishness, profiteering, stealing public property, and violating socialist property". The author's warnings and predictions are still relevant and valuable today when our Party is promoting Party building and rectification, preventing degradation in political ideology, morality, lifestyle and manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" among cadres and Party members.

Through parts 1 and 2 of the book, readers are quite tense when seeing the fierce and fierce fight against the "internal invaders", but in part 3, we feel relaxed and happy because of the recognition, appreciation, gratitude of many cadres, people and support of international friends for the great achievements in the fight against the "internal invaders".

Political books but easy to read

A book about politics but not dry, abstract, but easy to read, easy to absorb. This is due to many reasons, but perhaps an important factor is that the author is a bachelor of literature from Hanoi University. Many speeches and articles in the book are rich in literary quality. The author selects and uses many artistic images, comparative images, folk songs, proverbs, poems, uses familiar, rustic ways of speaking... so it is very attractive, even touching to the reader.

For example, in the final paragraph of the concluding speech at the National Conference summarizing 10 years of the fight against corruption and negativity in the 2012-2022 period and orienting activities for the next period, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong mentioned the saying of the character Pavel Korxagin in the work "How the Steel Was Tempered" by the Soviet writer Nikolai Oxtrovsky: "The most precious thing for a human being is life and the honor of living, because a human life is lived only once. We must live so as not to feel pain or regret for the years we have lived in vain, wasted; so as not to be ashamed of the mean, cowardly, infamous, and contemptuous actions; so that before closing our eyes, we can be proud that: I have lived a useful life, have devoted all my life, all my strength to the most noble cause in the world: For the glory of the Fatherland, of the Party, for the happiness of the people, of humanity; "So that our descendants will forever be grateful, respect, learn from and follow." In fact, when reading this passage, comrade Nguyen Phu Trong's voice was very emotional and spread that emotion to many people.

Speaking of the exemplary role of party members, the General Secretary used a folk song to remind: "Your feet are still dirty, yet you hold a torch to light other people's feet."

Along with the book "Determination to prevent and repel corruption" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong published in 2019, this book is one of the works written on the topic of preventing corruption and negativity of great value since the Party gained power in 1945 until now.

The book is like a handbook on the fight against corruption and negativity, helping to guide and illuminate many important theoretical and practical issues, serving as a basis for this work for many years to come. The book demonstrates the creative development of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought on Party building in general and the fight against corruption and negativity in particular.
